“The journey of a thousand miles begins with a simple step” - Lao Tzu

My interest in Daoist philosophy began when I was 19, living on my own in London and struggling to find my feet, a friend lent me a half-torn copy of The Barefoot Doctor, I was instantly hooked. These practices helped me balance my mind, body, and spirit, supporting me through drama school and the challenges of early adulthood.

At the same time, I started learning Tai Chi from my father—who has studied Chen Tai Chi with many of the world-renowned masters for nearly 4 decades. I trained with him on weekends and holidays, and with other teachers in London. Yet after nearly 15 yeaes of training, self-doubt crept in. I thought, I’ll never be as good as my dad, so why try? I stopped training, and in time, my health declined.

In 2024 everything changed. My father was in a serious accident getting hit by a motorbike whilst crossing the road. Doctors called his survival a miracle and credited the strength and flexibility that saved him to his decades of Tai Chi. That moment shifted everything for me. I promised myself I would let go of perfectionism and dedicate myself to a lifelong practice—not just for health and longevity, but to share what I had been given.

A year later, after a hip operation and months of recovery, my father now teaches full-time again. We both teach independently and also come together to lead Tai Chi retreats around the world—a living testament to the power of Tai Chi.
